The web based PlayStation store of Sony has received a much needed facelift. The newly designed website will go online on October 17, 2012. The timing of the change coincides with the Christmas period, and should work in Sony’s favor.
With the new design of the store, the company has acknowledged the importance of digital downloads, in comparison to the traditional disk-based games. Gordon Thornton, who is the vice president of Sony Network Entertainment Europe’s network operations, elaborated on the motivation behind the redesign. Thornton said that they wanted to create a better PlayStation experience, and also wanted to address some of the issues which consumers had shared about the old version.
