Indian handset manufacturer Karbonn said that it will soon be launching a 3G tablet in the country in the holiday season. The statement from the company came on October 16, 2012. The company said that the new tablet known as Agnee, will be launched during the festival of Diwali and will be priced under Rs. 10,000.

The new tablet will be based on the Qualcomm design. Karbonn said that it aims to sell half a million tablets by the end of March 2013. Pradeep Jain, the Managing Director of Karbonn Mobiles said, “The 3G tablet has been designed and developed in India by Innominds to provide a comprehensive and collaborative platform for students and faculties.”

Jain added that Agnee is the first 3G tablet which is based on QRD, which is a step forward in making engaged mobility solutions a reality for the Indian consumers. The company said that it aims to bring a revolution in the tablet market with 3G technology for advanced communication and data usage.

At present, the company claims that it has an 8 percent share in the Indian smart devices market, and is now targeting to have at least a 15 percent share by the financial year end. Karbonn has four tablets in its portfolio, which are priced between Rs. 5,790 and Rs. 7,990.
