US computing giant Apple, has lost a UK court battle with South Korean company Samsung. Apple had alleged that Samsung had infringed on the registered design of its iPad tablet. An earlier judgement by judge Colin Birss, which became widely popular, said that Samsung’s Galaxy Tabs were not ‘cool enough’ to be mistaken for iPads, because they could not match the extreme simplicity of the Apple product. This judgment was upheld by the High Court in London, saying that Apple was not the first to have rounded corners and a rectangular screen for a tablet.
It was ruled by the three judges in the panel that for at least a month, Apple has to place a link on its website to bring the judgement to the attention of the general public. Judge Robin Jacob ordered Apple to publicize its loss in court as well.
