US based tech giant Apple has opened its biggest Asian store in Beijing, China as of October 20, 2012 . The shop is located on the major shopping street of Wangfujing in the heart of the capital of China, covering an area of 2,300 square kilometres. The new store has marked the growing importance of China to the US tech giant.
The Chinese market is now considered as the biggest market for Apple after US, but the company has constantly faced criticism for the conditions in which its products are produced in the country. As soon as the shop opened at 9 am, the enthusiasm of the shoppers was visible as hundreds of shoppers came to visit the store.
This is Apple’s sixth official outlet in Mainland China, and more than 100 people were seen waiting outside to enter the store. China also has many other stores which are licensed to sell Apple products. Apple has a huge popularity in China, due to which, the launch of each new iPhone is met with huge crowds outside their stores, with people waiting to get their hands on the latest device. Apple smartphone manufacturer Foxconn was recently criticized when it admitted that it employed under-age interns at one of its assembly lines.
