Japanese based telecom company NTT DOCOMO Inc. will be creating platforms for gaming as well as online shopping through their ‘dmarket’ portal, which provides content and services for smartphones and tablets. The gaming platform is expected to open by late November, 2012 and the online shopping will begin from the month of December, 2012.
The new gaming platform ‘dgame’, will be offering high quality games in collaboration with leading game providers like Namco Bandai Games Inc and Konami Digital Entertainment Co. Sega Corp. and Square Enix. The telecom company will begin with 15 social gaming titles including the latest original games from DOCOMO, dgame will then slowly expand its menu of popular games.
The company has also made sure that it does not offer compulsive style gaming content, or games which are designed to tempt gamers. This will also limit the amount of spending and social communication functions that will be available to minors.
The service will be mostly free for users, but some of the games will be charged on a monthly basis. The games will be available for tablets, smartphones and feature phones from DOCOMO and other mobile operators. The fee related to games will be payable with Docomo’s ‘dcoin’ virtual money service or Docomo points which are earned by the subscribers.
