Search engine giant Google had planned an Android event on October 29, 2012, which had to be cancelled due to hurricane Sandy. Microsoft however, will be launching their Windows Phone 8 in San Francisco this evening. The new LG made Nexus 4 was supposed to be launched along with at least one new Android tablet.
According to reports, the search engine company was also to launch an upgrade to the Android Operating System. The event was scheduled to be held at 10 am local time on the west side of Manhattan. However, as the Hurricane Sandy was approaching the east coast of the United States, the search engine had to cancel the event.
Google in a statement said, “We are cancelling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more. Stay safe and dry, The Android Team”. The cancellation of the event has now given Microsoft an opportunity to focus its attention towards the Windows Phone 8 launch event in San Francisco.
Some other manufacturers have already shown off their Windows 8 handsets, but details of the operating system have not yet been revealed. Microsoft is expected to reveal a few specifications today.
