The much awaited Bond movie ‘Skyfall’ hit Indian theaters on November 2, 2012. The Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem movie has posted approximately Rs. 27.5 crore gross, in its fourth day opening weekend in India. This has made the movie the second biggest opening weekend ever for a Hollywood movie in India and is even the highest for a non-3D movie. As of today, the movie has grossed Rs. 34.5 crore.
The movie was released in the country by Sony Pictures India with 907 prints, which is the largest 2D Hollywood release ever.
Skyfall has been released in four languages – English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. It has also been released in the 2D and iMax formats. The opening weekend for the movie has been the best so far, for any Hollywood movie in India and exceeded past Bond box office performers such as ‘Quantum of Solace’ and ‘Casino Royale’. Both these films had posted a gross of Rs. 44.4 crores and Rs. 40.3 crores respectively.
The new movie is also reported to be the biggest ever Thursday opening for any Hollywood movie, with Rs. 6.5 crores. Skyfall has thus continued the fascination for Bond movies among its Indian fans. Excellent reviews have also ensured a long and successful run for the movie at the box office.
