Coffeehouse giant Starbucks has opened its 100th store in Beijing, China on November 26, 2012. With the new store, the coffee giant is advancing towards its planned growth in the country.
Apart from the new store, the company has also announced the launch of Starbucks China University, which is its innovative talent development program. Starbucks also said that China will become its second largest market by the year 2014 and that it looks forward to a continuing relationship with the country.
Belinda Wong, the president of Starbucks China said, “China is a focal point of our global expansion efforts and we are proud to bring this unique store, staffed by all partners certified as Coffee Masters, to our customers here in Beijing and further demonstrate our espresso leadership”. Wong added that Beijing is where they started their journey in China and opened their first store in the year 1999.
The president also added that they are now proud to operate 100 stores across the city and about 700 throughout Mainland China. The company also announced that by the year 2015, more than 1,500 stores will be opened cross more than 70 cities. Moreover, in recent times Starbucks has discovered what taste people in China look forward to and plans to introduce Chinese inspired flavors soon, which will be built on existing favorites like their 'Red Bean Frappuccinos'.
