Despite an increase in sales by various companies, US-based Apple Inc remains dominant at the top, with its iPad grabbing more than two-thirds of all tablet sales.

About 2.6 million tablets were sold in China in the third quarter of 2012, which is up from 1.6 million in 2011. Apple has grabbed 71.4 percent of the market, which is down a percentage point from the second quarter, but is still ahead of the Lenovo group with 10.5 percent of the market. In recent years, tablet and smartphone sales in China have increased, as prices have dropped and users look for cheaper gadgets to allow them to access the internet.
