The promoter for Deccan Charters GR Gopinath, said that the company has put the entire fleet of aircraft on sale. He has also fired dozens of employees as he grapples with a severe financial crisis. Since 1997, the company has been offering charter services to pilgrims and businessmen and has not paid its employees for a year.
According to media sources, in November 2012 alone around 11 pilots and 20 technical personnel were fired and less than a third of the workforce (which is about 300) remain. On the other hand, in a telephonic conversation Gopinath denied that they were facing financial difficulties, but confessed that the charter company was not doing well.
