The Siano Meron is a new device that is now doing the rounds and will have the capability of streaming live TV to Apple and Android devices. Siano has promised free of charge broadcast TV capability directly to iPad’s, iPhone’s and Android devices.

According to reports, the new piece of hardware does not need any additional connectivity in the form of a mobile data network or pre-existing connection. All that is required is for the user to place the device in an area where it is capable of receiving broadcasts over the air.

The device is based on an architecture that does not involve the use of a CPU, this should allow the device to be priced quite low. The device picks up signals using a Wi-Fi transceiver and a mobile DTV chip.

In order to view TV stations on Android and Apple devices, users will have to go to the Google Play store or Apple’s App Store and download an application. This application will allow TV content to be viewed on the devices and are free of charge. The Meron comes with a re-chargeable batter which will last for up to 3 hours per charge.

The Meron supports DVB-T, Full-Seg and ISDB-T 1-Seg with great wireless connectivity as well, so the device will work well indoors as well as outdoors.
