The latest smart-PC to hit the market is Samsung’s ATIV Smart PC 500T. Loaded with a Windows operating system (Windows RT) and an Intel Atom processor this tablet has quite a lot of pros.
The Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T can run all Windows applications, just like Windows-based computers. This tablet is more versatile than the other tablets running on a Windows RT operating system. It can run MS Office, Adobe Photoshop, Windows Media Player and much more. The tablet is a real treat to operate on and the only drawback is that the Intel Atom machines are still significantly less powerful than the ‘Intel Core I’ processor run machines.
The Samsung ATIV Smart PC 500T has dual band WiFi connectivity, an 8 megapixel rear camera (with an LED flash), a 2 megapixel front camera, a USB 2.0 port and Bluetooth 4.0. The keyboard dock for the device is available for $129, but unlike the Asus and Lenovo keyboard docks, the dock for this device lacks an internal second battery.
The new Samsung device has a capacitive multi-touch feature as well as a Wacom digitizer with an S-Pen for drawing, writing, taking notes and painting. The S-Pen is of special use here because Windows has a wider selection of art as well as note-taking than Samsung’s Android-based devices with a stylus, such as the Galaxy note.
The tablet is priced at $649 and with the extra keyboard dock it costs $769.
