Day 1 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas started with a bang on January 8, 2013, amid a variety of new products being unveiled and product launches being discussed.

Among the highlights of the day was Panasonic announcing its very own 56-inch 4k OLED TV, seen as a rival to Sony’s 56-inch effort. The 27-pound TV has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 and is thinner than half an inch. Panasonic was not done with that, they unveiled a 20-inch 4K tablet as well with a very precise screen. The new tablet will run Windows 8 and has a resolution of 3,840 x 2,560, running on an Intel Core i5 processor.

The Android phone market will surely get a boost with the new Grand S by ZTE. The 5-inch smartphone runs on Android’s Jelly Bean platform and has a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor to go with a  13 megapixel camera.

The gaming world will also see some new innovations with the new Razer Edge. The new convertible machine is being described as a tablet and a PC, as well as a gaming console by Razer. Devices like these blur the boundaries between manufacturers, in what is turning out to be a highly competitive CES rally in 2013.

Day 2 at the CES is currently underway as consumers look forward to the next big announcement.
