Asia Bizz: MP Minister Babulal Gaur blames all of India’s Governments’ Negligence for Bhopal Gas tragedy
Babulal Gaur, the Minister of gas relief and rehabilitation of Madhya Pradesh, India, stated that it wasn’t fair at all to blame Arjun Singh in connection with the events that followed the 1984 Bhopal Gas incident – that killed thousands of people. But he said that the Congress party and central government of India are equally responsible and have a rightful share in the incidents that have occurred after the accident.
Gaur reportedly blamed the central government, which was led by the BJP at that time, who were totally apathetic towards the problems faced by the victims after the gas tragedy. He states that there is absolutely no sense in pinpointing one government party’s fault for their negligence after the tragedy, which he clearly seemed to have commented on the reaction of the Central government towards the Congress.
Mr. Gaur has been called to attend a Group of Ministers (GoM) meeting, which has been called in by the Union Home Minister, Mr. P. Chidambaram. In the meeting he promises that he would raise the issues regarding the remaining 20 wards which were declared as gas affected, and to see whether the people get their compensations as per American standards.
The 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy from a Union Carbide tank killed thousands of people in Central India and left thousands more affected.
