After a long wait, finally the Tamil version of the movie ‘Vishwaroopam’ is free to be released. Until now just the Hindi version of the flick was allowed to be released in other states of the country, while the Tamil and Telugu versions remained banned.
The ban on the movie was lifted on February 4, 2013, which came just a day after actor and producer Kamal Haasan struck a deal with Muslim groups who demanded the ban against the movie. The ban was revoked by District Collectors across the state.
The Muslim Groups claimed that some of the scenes of the mega budget movie hurt their sentiments. Official sources revealed that the prohibitory orders which were imposed under the section 144 of CrPC have been lifted. The government had banned the movie due to constant pressure caused by the Muslim Groups citing that it was for the security of the people.
The multi-lingual movie was supposed to be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and was originally to be released on January 11, 2013. Earlier, the makers of the movie had decided to release the thriller movie on DTH, but the plan was then opposed by the theater owners.
