After the success of the movie ‘Life Of Pi’, Indian actor Suraj Sharma received great appreciation for his role in the flick. However, the actor lost the EE Rising Star award to British actress Juno Temple at the British Academy Film Awards which was held in London on February 10, 2013.
Suraj, who hails from Delhi was the only male actor who was nominated in the category. The other nominees included Elizabeth Olsen, Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, Andrea Riseborough and Juno. The story of the movie ‘Life of Pi’ is based on the Booker Prize winning novel by Yann Martel.
The movie narrates the story of an Indian boy who loses his family in a shipwrek and is left to survive with a tiger on a life boat. The flick also features Indian actors Tabu and Irrfan Khan. Suraj appeared in a black suit at the Royal Opera House at Covet Garden in London. The EE Rising Star honors actors who have shown exceptional talent as well as ambition to capture the imagination of the British public.
Suraj walked away with two trophies at the gala ceremony which was organized by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, where his film won the awards for Best Special Visual Effects and Best Cinematography.
