Cereal giant Kellogg Company or better known as Kellogg’s, has announced that it will be recalling more than 28 million boxes of cereal products due to bad feedback. The company, in consultation with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), has announced the recall after reports emerged that the breakfast cereal has not matched up to industry standards.
Reports state that the recalled products include Kellogg’s Apple Jacks, Kellogg’s Corn Pops, Kellogg’s Froot Loops and Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereals. These brands were sold across the USA between March and June 2010.
Kellogg’s said that it was recalling these products because of “an uncharacteristic off-flavor and smell coming from the liner in the package.â€
Kellogg’s added: “We have identified a substance in the package liners that can produce an uncharacteristic waxy-like off taste and smell.â€
Sources state that the recall was scheduled to take place after customers complained that the odor caused vomiting and nausea in some cases.
