US tech giant Apple has launched its media streaming device Apple TV for the Indian market. The device has been launched in the country for Rs. 8,295. However, the new Apple device is quite different from the rumored television set that the company could be launching soon.
The new Apple TV will allow the users to wirelessly stream media content from an iTunes account to their TV set. A spokesperson from Apple confirmed about the development and said that the device will be available for purchase at stores over the next week.
The spokesperson said, “Yes, we have launched the product. It will be out with our authorized re-sellers in the next seven to ten days”. The recent move to launch the device in the country has come two months after the launch of the iTunes store in India. Apple sells high definition movies at a price starting from Rs. 490.
The new Apple TV is expected to be a bigger roll out by the company as compared to its future television. This will also help the company solve any potential compatibility issues. Apple TV faces stiff competition from other products like Smart Stick from Micromax and Smart Box from Akai.
