Passengers of Delhi Metro in India do not have to travel hungry any more. The IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation) has come up with plans to open kiosks which will have tasty delicacies that can be enjoyed by patrons at the station itself. Under the Railways, the company has planned to open 130 stalls in Metro Stations.

The IRCTC has tied up with the Delhi Metro Railway Corporation to put in the kiosks, which will be known as ‘Food Track’. The kiosks will be opening as early as March 2013. An official from the IRCTC said that the stalls will be opened in a phased manner, starting with stations in the blue line and the purple line.

The best part of the new plan is that the stalls will be bring in a hygiene factor, as all food items like samosas, burgers and rolls will come packed. The official added that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India have certified the stalls and also claimed that the kiosks will be the only eateries in metro stations which will be certified by FSSAI.

In regards to the menu, the kiosks will also serve items like ‘Chana Chawal’, ‘Kadi Chawal’ and ‘Rajma Chawal’ in sealed trays which will be microwave compatible. In recent years, the IRCTC has expanded its reach and has provided catering facilities on trains, offices and government canteens.
