Passengers of Indian railways will soon be treated with 100 trains including AC double-deckers, new passenger services, as well as the extension of services which will cater to the demands of various states. The proposal has been made in the 2013-14 Rail Budget.
The announcement will be made in the Rail Budget in regards to manufacturing 4,200 new coaches, including 600 LHB coaches as well. Provisions will also be made for 670 new locomotives, including 20 LNG locos. The Budget will also account for manufacturing 16,000 new wagons.
Sources from the Railways Ministry said, “The focus of the Rail Budget this year is on providing more amenities to passengers. Attempts have been made to cater to the demands of all regions, including the Northeast, as there were representations for new trains from various states”. Even the services of some of the express trains have been extended, while the frequency of certain popular trains have also been increased, keeping in mind the number of people travelling on these trains.
Sources have revealed that about 100 new trains will be announced during the budget. Last year, the railways had announced 175 new trains including some passenger services. Some of the new measures also included the introduction of braille stickers inside the coaches for the visually impaired passengers.
