Japanese-based auto giant Honda will stop the production of its premium hatchback Jazz in India from next month. The company has temporarily stopped the production of the vehicle, till the introduction of a new generation model which is due early next year.
At present, the company is looking forward to the launch of its entry level sedan Amaze in the month of April 2013. With the new launch, the company expects it to be a volume generator. The spokesperson of the Indian arm of Honda Cars India said, “We will have a gap in the production of the current Honda Jazz from March 2013 onward. The next generation Jazz is planned to be introduced in India in 2014”.
The spokesperson also revealed that the company has stopped taking further bookings of the Jazz. At present, the company is available in India at the price of Rs. 5.99 lakh and Rs. 6.56 lakh ex-showroom price Delhi.
Honda had launched the Jazz in the Indian market in the year 2009 with a price tag of more than Rs. 7 lakh. The model had received tepid response from buyers, after which the company slashed the price by up to Rs. 1.6 lakh in the year 2011 and since then it has gradually picked up sales.
