For years, the popular Cup O’Noodles has saved many lives and now it might actually save lives in an emergency situation. The company says that these noodles can be ready in three minutes and can last for u to three years. The emergency ration noodles were tested in kitchens of the Cup Noodle Museum, in the Momofuku Ando Instant Ramen Noodles in Osaka and the Kanagawa prefecture.
The company offers two types of ramen – Chicken Ramen and Cup Noodles. Every ramen can has a shelf life of around three years and will soon be made available for a limited time from Nissin Foods. The test sales have reportedly been conducted on around 10,000 canisters of long-lasting Chicken Ramen and Cup Noodles.
After the testing phase, the emergency rations will go on sale to the general public. Every metal tin has a packet of noodles, soup mix and a paper cup. This comes along with a foldable fork for two people. It also has a small packet of desiccant to prevent moisture build up. It is all due to the airtight container which gives it a shelf life of three years.
Generally a regular serving of Cup Noodles would last for just six months. As compared to this, an emergency ration Cup Noodles has a shelf life that has been extended by 2.5 years.
