The incident has been recorded on video tape and was flashed on various TV channels. The video has shown a cop slapping the woman, roughing her up and also beating her with a baton. The police said that the woman’s family had misbehaved with the cops and that is why they were treating her badly.

The victim said that she had complained to the police after somebody had teased her, but instead of taking action, she and her father was attacked by the officers. After the incident, DGP Sumedh Singh ordered the suspension of the two constables who were involved in the incident. The officers involved have been identified as Saraj Singh and Davinder Kumar.

An SP-ranked officer has been ordered to call for an inquiry into the incident and has been asked to submit a report in seven days. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh has been asked by the DGP to take strict action against such officers. On the other hand, the family of the girl have claimed that there has been no misbehavior on their part and that the attack was unprovoked.
