Sunita Williams, the Indian-American astronaut, will be travelling to space for the second time in June 2012. The news was confirmed by NASA today.
Williams will be accompanied by Japanese astronaut Akihiko Hoshide as well as flight engineers Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko on Soyuz 31 flight to the space station.
NASA reportedly said that Indo – American astronaut, Sunita Williams, would become the commander of the International Space Station in October 2012. Williams was selected by NASA in June 1998 and she has served as a flight engineer aboard the International Space Station.
Sunita also holds a world record for females with four spacewalks amounting to 29 hours and 17 minutes of EVA.
