Indian auto giant Mahindra is all set to launch its next generation electric vehicle the e20 (powered by Reva), which was unveiled at the last Auto Expo held in New Delhi in January 2013. The Vehicle will be launched on March 18, 2013 for the Indian market.
Dr. Pawan Goenka, the Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd President said in a statement, “We are delighted to announce the launch of the e2o, which will mark a significant milestone in Mahindra’s automotive journey. Electric vehicles today epitomize clean and green driving and Mahindra wants to take the lead in developing this segment and its surrounding eco system”. The futuristic ecosystem of the Sun2Car is being used as the base for the Mahindra e20. This system uses energy from the sun for urban mobility.
The next generation of Lithium Ion batteries will be used by the e20, which will allow the car to have a range of 100 kms on a full charge. This charge is suitable for most urban commuters today. The new Mahindra e20 can be fueled by the user themselves through any 15 amp plug point, either at their work place or at home.
The new Mahindra car will be manufactured at the company’s Reva’s facility, which was recently inaugurated. This facility is also India’s first platinum certified automobile plant.
