Indian mobile phone manufacturer Micromax has recently launched its A116 Canvas HD smartphone to a good response in the market. The company had started taking the pre-booking orders on February 14, 2013 and it was expected to go on sale shortly after that.
However, the delivery of the smartphone was delayed due to procedural issues. A spokesperson from Micromax, while talking to the reporters said, “The Micromax Canvas HD A116 was the first device in the world to be launched on Mediatek’s MT6589 Quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A7 chipset. Like any other first device it took a while to scale up on its commercial production.”
The spokesperson also shared that the company had made a sale of 3,000 odd devices, as a part of a Valentines Day offer. He also added that due to unprecedented consumer response, they did a pre-booking of about 1,000 devices.
The spokesperson was also asked about when the pre-booked handsets would be delivered, to which he said that the company would be delivering the handsets on a ‘first come first served’ basis. Customers who have pre-booked their devices are expected to get their smartphones by March 22, 2013. Micromax has also indicated that the country will be able to purchase the Canvas HD from the open retail market.
