The mobile segment of Videocon has made incoming calls free for special tariff vouchers for its subscribers who are on roaming. This will be done by default, without any processing fee. The offer has come into immediate effect following the announcement.
The move has been taken based on the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), where the Apex Body had envisioned ‘One Nation Free Roaming’ under the National Telecom Policy 2012. The offering by Videocon Telecom Services aims to make the overall roaming experience cheaper.
Arvind Bali, the director and CEO at Videocon Mobile Services said, “We aim at being a country free of any physical or geographical boundaries, and in pursuance of the visionary recommendations as underlined in the National Telecom Policy 2012, we reiterate our commitment towards ‘One Nation – Free Roaming’.”
Bali added that the company would also extend the benefits of freedom of movement across the network. The CEO went on to say that the offer has been introduced for all Videocon subscribers across the Videocon Network. Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal said that the government will also try to introduce free national roaming for all customers before the month of October 2013.
