The last few months have been tough in terms of the car sales for manufacturers in India, but the figures were different for Indian auto giant Maruti Suzuki. Stats have shown that the company has managed to sell more than one lakh units of its small car Alto 800 within the last 4 months.
The Alto 800 was launched in the month of October 2012 and the company has managed to maintain a strong product since the time it was launched. Moreover, with such records it is clear that the new Alto has successfully carried the Maruti Suzuki name forward.
The competition in the small car segment is now increasing, with the Hyundai Eon becoming a serious threat to Maruti Suzuki. However, the Alto 800 has managed to maintain its dominance in the segment. The Alto 800 is an entry level model which generates its power from a 796 cc, 3 cylinder F8D petrol motor which churns out a maximum output of 47 bhp.
The company has also claimed that the vehicle gives fuel economy of 22.47 Kmpl. Maruti Suzuki has put out a dual fuel petrol-CNG model for its entry level hatch in the domestic passenger car market.
