Filmmaker Sajid Khan has released his much awaited movie ‘Himmatwala’ on March 29, 2013. However, despite the hype around the flick, the critics have not appreciated the concept. Moreover, even the box office verdict does not seem to be impressive at all.

The movie has Ajay Devgn and Tammannaah Bhatia (who has made her Bollywood debut with this flick) in leading roles. The film is a remake of the 1983 movie with the same name and had Jitendra and Sridevi as the lead actors. The earlier movie was known for the popular track ‘Naino Mein Sapna Sapnno Me Sajna’.

Popular film critic Taran Adarsh said that the movie has collected Rs. 31.1 crore on its opening weekend. Adarsh explained how the movie was produced by UTV and was promoted with great hype, but failed at the box office miserably. Apart from India, the movie also performed poorly abroad.

Adarsh mentioned that the Friday takings of the movie abroad was USD 71,00 in the US and called it poor. The film critic also said that the opening of ‘Himmatwala’ was poor in other countries as well. On the other hand, it was noticed that the original movie was a blockbuster hit and was considered as 1983’s top earnings flick.
