Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has turned 40 years old on April 24, 2013. Cricket administrators and fans of the star will be lining up a series of events to celebrate with the senior batsman. Tendulkar will also be appearing in an IPL match in Kolkata today.
At present, the legend is in Kolkata along with the Mumbai Indians team, as they prepare to fight against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The day will begin with a customary cake cutting ceremony at the team hotel. The Cricket Association of Bengal celebrated the cricketer’s birthday a day in advance by cutting a ten pound cake with around 100 blind students.
The blind students were from the Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission Blind School and the Light House for the Blind. A message from CAB said, “We are overwhelmed with joy. We want Tendulkar to live 100 years. Today a 40 pound cake is being planned which will be a private affair near the dressing room”.
The cricketer’s wife had also joined him last night along with team owner Nita Ambani for further celebrations. Tendulkar, in his 24-year career has most batting records in his name, apart from Brian Lara’s Test record of 400 not out. The cricketer has called it quits from the ODI format of the game so as to prolong his test career.
