Mobile phone manufacturer Micromax has launched its Canvas 3D smartphone for the Indian market. The handset is the company’s first smartphone with a 3D screen and has been priced at Rs. 9,999. However, it does not require 3D glasses to read content. The company explained that the technology which is required to convert a standard imaged into the 3D format has been embedded into the smartphone.
The Canvas 3D A115 has a 5-inch display and runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean platform. The dual-SIM smartphone runs on a 1Ghz dual core processor and supports a 32 GB memory card for storage expansion, but the company has not yet revealed the RAM and internal storage which is offered.
The features of the phone include a 5-megapixel camera on the rear, VGA camera in the front. Its connectivity features include Wi Fi, Bluetooth and micro USB. The device has a 2,000 mAh battery, which offers talk time of up to 4.5 hours. The company also has added access to Micromax 3D space, which has 3D games and videos.
The Indian market has just one other smartphone which is the LG Optimus 3D, which is priced at Rs. 26,400 due to which Micromax has higher chances of capturing the 3D phone market.
