Bollywood actor Salman Khan is still being haunted by the 2002 case of hit and run in which his vehicle ran over people sleeping on the pavement. The decision regarding this case will be made on June 10, 2013 when the law will decide if the actor has to be tried for a stricter charge of culpable homicide.

On May 8, 2013, the Additional Sessions judge U B Hejib listened to the arguments of both prosecution and defense in order to determine if the actor’s case is fit to be tried under the section 304 (II) of the Indian Penal Code which is culpable homicide not amounting to murder. This is a more stringent charge and if the accused is found guilty, could be punished for ten years in jail.

Until now the actor has been charged for death due to negligent driving, for which he might have to go to jail for up to two years and/or pay a fine. The incident happened on September 28, 2002 when the ‘Dabangg’ actor ran his car over people who were sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in Bandra.

The incident resulted in one person being killed and four other people being injured as the actor was driving under the influence of alcohol.
