As auto industry is currently experiencing a down period, auto giant General Motors India Private Limited hopes that the market will show signs of improvement in 2013. The company said that sales might improve during the festive months of October-November 2013. In recent times, the company has been facing a new low, due to a severe economic plunge.
However, Rajesh Singh, Vice President of Vehicle Sales, Service and Marketing at General Motors India expressed his optimism regarding the current situation. Singh said that vehicle sales dropped in the Indian auto market between January and March 2013. The sales dropped by about 18 percent, compared to the same period in 2012. Slowdown in sales was mainly due to rising fuel prices and also hampered sales recorded by diesel-run vehicles.
Diesel vehicles were selling in big numbers during 2012, when the petrol prices touched the sky compared to prices of diesel. The company is positive that it will have a double-digit growth in vehicle sales during from April to June 2013. This year, the company has announced the launch of two new models, Chevrolet Sail and Enjoy, in the domestic car market.
