Seems like South Korean giant LG is following in Samsung’s footsteps and is all set to unveil its first flexible display. LG announced that it will soon unveil an unbreakable and flexible 5-inch plastic OLED panel for mobile devices.
This recent development comes when smart devices are being used more than ever and at increased risk of damage from drops, hits and other accidents. LG Display will also be introducing 5-inch and 7-inch HD LCD panels, that are based on Oxide TFT which is seen as the TFT technology as it offers high transparency and also consumes less power.
The 5-inch HD panel will have 1.0mm bezel that allows the production of borderless smartphones which are lightweight and also emit significantly less heat. On the other hand, the 7-inch HD LCD display is equipped with touch function-embedded technology that enables touch functionality in thin and lightweight mobile products.
LG Display will also present the latest TV, mobile and other products which represent the future of display technology at the Society for Information Display’s (SID) Display Week 2013, which is scheduled from May 19 to May 24, 2013.
