Recent reports claim that Japan, known for its technology, will be selling its bullet train technology to India, for a high-speed connection between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. Additional reports claimed that the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe and Indian Prime Minister Manhmohan Singh will be issuing a joint statement in this regard.
Details about the project will include a feasibility study. Media reports say that Mumbai-Ahmedabad rail line will stretch 500 kilometers, at the cost of up to one trillion yen. It has been added that the two governments plan to finish technological reviews and costings by the end of March 2014.
As Abe is ruling Japan, the country is looking to a renewed drive to sell roads, power stations and rail to emerging nations like India. Earlier in May 2013, Japanese Prime Minister added that he will travel the world on behalf of Japan Inc. and stated that he wants to treble sales of well-respected infrastructure projects in Japan to 30 trillion yen per year.
Singh is on a three-day visit to Japan to strengthen bilateral ties and said on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, that he sees Japan as natural and indispensable partner in its quest for stability and peace in Asia.
