Electronics giant Sony has officially announced its ZR smartphone for the Indian market. With this recent announcement made, it is certain that the device will soon be launched for retail. The smartphone can also be pre-ordered through online retailers like Flipkart.com and Infibeam.com.
Both of these online retailers have mentioned that the device will be priced at Rs. 29,990. Flipkart.com has stated that the expected date of launch of the Xperia ZR should be the third week of June, 2013, while Infibeam.com has announced a slightly earlier date – June 15, 2013. The new Xperia ZR is capable of taking photos and full-HD videos underwater, with a rating of IP55/IP58.
The unique quality of the device is that it can be kept submerged in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. The device has 4.6-inches HD reality display which has a resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels. The Xperia ZR has a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor with 2 GB of RAM and internal storage of 8 GB which can be expandable up to 32 GB with the help of a microSD card.
Additional features of the device include 13-megapixel fast-capturing camera with Exmor RS featuring 16x digital zoom with VGA front-facing camera. The latest smartphone also has a dedicated hardware button for the camera, which enables to use it even when the screen is locked.
