JMET is the entrance exam for gaining admission to the management degree courses offered by the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology). Some of the IITs use the JMET score in order to shortlist candidates for admissions to the two year full time Postgraduate Degree Program in Management.
The results of JMET provide a basis to each participating Institute to shortlist potential candidates for conducting its own selection process like, Group Discussion/Interview etc. However, calling the candidates for this later process of selection mandatory for gaining admission into the Institute.
Candidates should note that the final selection would depend on their performance in each of the components of the selection process.
The eligibility criteria for each management program of IITs may differ. Students who meet the criteria laid down by the Management School/Department of each IIT may take the JMET examination. Candidates in their final year of the qualifying degree course can also appear for JMET.
Currently IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee offer Programmes in Management.
