Mobile phone manufacturer BlackBerry said that it is launching a new campaign with a goal to reassure its customers that it has plans to stay in business. In recent times, constant rumors suggested that the popular company is heading towards its demise.
The company wrote an open letter to its customers, which read, “You can continue to count on BlackBerry”. The letter added, “How do we know? We have substantial cash on hand and a balance sheet that is debt free.” The letter has also suggested that the Canadian-based group is restructuring with an aim to reduce their costs by 50 percent, which will result in a very efficient organization, oriented towards its customers.
The letter also stated that the company is facing challenging times and that they are not underestimating the situation and will be dealing with the challenges. The company also explained that they are making some difficult changes which are essential in order to strengthen BlackBerry. The phone manufacturer also explained that it is looking into a sale of the company, in addition to other options.
Cerberus Capital Management, the private equity firm has expressed its interest in a bid for BlackBerry. Analysts have said that the company has fallen so far behind Apple and other manufacturers which use the Google Android operating system, however, BlackBerry still has around 70 million subscribers across the globe.
