Asia Bizz: Egg Recall 2010 – Hillandale Farms of Iowa Inc. Announces Recall After Wright County Egg
After Wright County Egg, Iowa, announced an egg recall of several of it’s brands on Thursday – following an outbreak of salmonella poisoning in the U.S. – another Iowa egg farm called “Hillandale Farms of Iowa Inc.” is recalling shell-eggs.
Reports state that Hillandale Farms of Iowa Inc. announced an egg recall for eggs suspected of being contaminated and being a cause of salmonella in the USA, according to the FDA.
The FDA said in a statement: “Through tracebacks conducted as part of its ongoing investigation into the increase of Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses nationwide, FDA and the State of Minnesota identified Hillandale Farms in Iowa as a second potential source of contaminated shell eggs.”
Currently, the FDA is continuing their probe on cracking down on contaminated eggs after thousands of salmonella poisoning cases were reported in the America between the months of May and July.
Iowa based Hillandale Farms’ eggs sold eggs under the brand names of Wholesome Farms , Sunny Farms, West Creek and Sunny Meadow across 14 states. The company said that the recalled eggs include six-, 12-, 18- and 30-egg cartons,as well as the five-dozen cases, and are dated between April 10 to August 19, 2010.
