For a while now, the auto industry was buzzing about Honda’s upcoming Jazz model. The latest news is that the company is all set to unveil the new Jazz at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo. Honda has already placed the new Jazz on sale in Japan and it is expected that the latest vehicle will be launched in the Indian market by July 2014.
The new Jazz from Honda will be positioned between the Brio and the Amaze models in the portfolio of the popular manufacturer. The Jazz will be available in two versions, the 1.2 litre iVTEC petrol motor with a 5-speed gearbox and a power of 90 PS and the 1.5 litre iDTEC diesel engine with a 5-speed gearbox and a peak power of 100 PS.
The petrol version of the new model is likely to get a CVT transmission later on. Terumasa Korada, the Senior Ride and Handling Engineer at Honda, while talking about the new Fit’s ride said, “In upping our game, we wanted to make a stronger international competitor, so we benchmarked our Fit on the Polo. The moment you get in the Polo, you notice how low you sit in the car.”
It is expected that the new Honda Jazz will have a very competitive price in India, which is most likely to start at Rs. 5.25 lakhs for the petrol engine variant.
