Asia Bizz: India-Pakistan Foreign Ministers Meet Ends Bitterly After Quereshi Slams India’s Selective Talks

The recent talks between the Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan, SM Krishna and Shah Mahmood Quereshi, ended bitterly, with Pakistan feeling that India is being selective about the agendas it chooses to speak, as said by Quereshi in the press conference held after the India-Pak talks in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.

Quereshi feels, India’s approach in the meetings is rigid and is fixated just on the issue of Terrorism. Quereshi said, “India’s approach was selective. When they say all issues are on table, they should not be selective. If we focus on just one issue (terrorism), it will be difficult for Pakistan to move forward”.

Whereas, Pakistan says that it is ready to negotiate when ever India is ready, and it is in no hurry and will show flexibility.

The talks between the Ministers did not end smoothly because the focus of the meeting was human rights violations by Pakistan in Jammu & Kashmir and the doggedness by India that Pakistan should give a 26/11 trial completion time frame, as said by Mahmood Quereshi.
