Auto giant Maruti Suzuki is all set to unveil its new model, the Celerio at the 2014 Auto Expo in Greater Noida. Reports say that the new vehicle will come with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) for the Indian market. The latest AMT system will enable gears in manual transmission to be switched, without the necessity to contend with clutch.

The Celerio will come as a replacement for the already existing models, A Star and Estilio, as they are being discontinued. The model will be unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo and will be powered by a 1.0 liter K10 petrol engine connected to a 5 speed transmission and a 2 cylinder 800 cc diesel motor – which is developed in-house – should be featured as well.

The latest model from Maruti Suzuki is expected to become very popular in the small car segment. This is the first time that the segment will feature a vehicle with Automated Manual Transmission, which will take away the problematic clutch pedal and ensure that the driving goes smoothly and with less of a hassle. The vehicle is great for Indian road conditions where the traffic is extreme.

The AMT technology is also cheaper than conventional automatic gearboxes, which will enable Maruti Suzuki to price the new Celerio efficiently. The higher fuel efficiency of the vehicle will also become one of the added advantages.
