Telecom giant Vodafone launched its new platform which will enable app developers – both local and international ones – to build and sell their apps via operator billing. The company’s new platform is known as the Vodafone Developer Platform and is supposed to help everyone, from app developers, to content service providers and end users.
When it comes to end users, the platform will offer a wider range of applications and content via operator billing. The company pointed out that the new platform will be extremely useful due to limited penetration of credit cards, as well as lack of a handy mechanism to make minor transactions through the mobile.
The company will also help developers in testing apps and services. Vodafone released a statement which said that ‘a minimal, standard set of terms and conditions govern the commercial and other aspects of the developers relationship with Vodafone India’. It will also provide the users with potential access and exposure to millions of the quality customers.
The company’s latest move towards applications came due to users’ high expectations when it comes to mobile apps and content services. Software company KeyPoint Technologies pointed out that localization will be the next big thing in the app industry.
