In recent times, the usage of smartphones has increased all over the world and an increasing number of companies are deciding to venture into the smartphone business. A research firm stated that global smartphone users are expected to reach 1.75 billion in 2014.

In addition to that, the firm predicted that global mobile phone users will reach 4.55 billion in 2014. The research firm eMarketer said, “The global smartphone audience surpassed the 1 billion mark in 2012 and will total 1.75 billion in 2014. eMarketer expects smartphone adoption to continue on a fast-paced trajectory through 2017”.

Almost two-fifths of all mobile phone users will use smartphones at least once a month during 2014. The developing regions like Asia-Pacific and other places are expected to get a boost in mobile adoption. In recent times, mobile adoption is decreasing, but it is expected that new users will appear in?Asia-Pacific and the?Middle East?and Africa, which will drive additional increases.

Between 2013 and 2017, mobile phone penetration is expected to increase from 61.1 percent to 69.4 percent of the global population. Mobile phone users are fast switching over to smartphones which are becoming more affordable and 3G and 4G networks are advancing. Analysts also said that the increase in adoption of smartphones will lead to the growth of mobile internet.
