Car manufacturer Ford released its popular vehicle EcoSport compact SUV in India in June 2013 with positive response from the market. The vehicle was eagerly anticipated in the country and within just three weeks, Ford received almost 30,000 bookings for it, which became overwhelming for the company. Due to this, Ford asked its dealers to halt bookings for the popular model.

After a couple of months, the waiting period for the EcoSport has been reduced and Ford has instructed its dealers to resume taking orders for all models of the vehicle. The executive director of marketing sales and service at Ford India, Vinay Piparsania said, “Ford India’s game changing SUV EcoSport is aimed squarely at delighting discerning customers in India by offering more than they expect.’’

Piparsania went on to say that about 50,000 EcoSports were delivered, that they have also significantly decreased the waiting period and are looking forward to extending the opportunity to book the Ford EcoSport to more customers.

Prospective customers will be able to choose between one diesel and two petrol engines. The petrol vehicles come with a 1.5 liter TiVCT and the award-winning 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine, with the option of 5-speed manual and 6-speed auto transmission. Out of the five models produced at the Chennai plant in India, one is an export unit.
