Brazil beats Croatia, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull set the arena on fire, all the the FIFA 2014 World Cup.
The much awaited 2014 FIFA World Cup kicked off in Brazil on June 12, 2014. The opening ceremony at the Sao Paulo arena payed tribute to the nature, people and football of Brazil.
Singing sensations Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull performed the official World Cup song ‘We Are One’ at the end of the closing ceremony which was truly a spectacle.
32 nations will be competing in the tournament to get to the final match, which will be played in Rio on July 13, 2014. Luis Felipe Scolari, the coach of the Brazilian team said, “Let me tell you the time has arrived. We are going together. This is our World Cup”. Brazil had a good head-start as it defeated Croatia in the opening match with a score of 3-1.
In 2013, millions of Brazilian citizens got down on the streets to protest against what they saw as excessive spending on the World Cup preparations.
However, the government of the host country is taking precautions to prevent any such violence during the tournament. Brazilian President – Dilma Rouseff – said that she will not allow any violent demonstrations to disturb the World Cup excitement. The authorities have taken measures by deploying thousands of policemen and soldiers to ensure that the matches are conducted smoothly.
The host country Brazil is looking forward to a win at the World Cup for the sixth time. In the earlier 20 opening games, Brazil has never lost any opening World Cup Game.
