China Telecom opens up the market, announces the sale of unlocked Apple iPhone 6 in China.
China’s third largest telecom company, China Telecom, said it will be selling an unlocked version of the iPhone 6. The announcement came via a tweet from China Telecom’s official Weibo account. China will be among the countries that will receive the first batch of the iPhone 6. When China Telecom says it will sell an unlocked iPhone 6 in China, it means the iPhone will support the SIM cards of the other two telecom companies – China Mobile and China Unicom.
Previous editions of the iPhone sold by China Telecom only supported the SIM cards of China Telecom. The unlocked iPhone will will support 13 frequency spectrums that include WCDMA, CDMA2000, CDMA 1X, GSM and LTE – both TDD and FDD which means you can use the iPhone with the SIM cards of all the wireless network providers in the country.
Another feature of this unlocked iPhone 6 will be that it will support dual 4G network. The Apple iPhone 6 made headlines again on Tuesday as details of it using a Qualcomm MDM9625 LTE modem emerged. This would mean that the phone would now be compatible with LTE-A networks.
According to the Weibo tweet, the iPhone 6 will come in the same colors as did the iPhone 5S – Black, Silver and Gold.
However, after being retweeted by around 300 users, China Telecom deleted the tweet from it’s official account. There has been no further confirmation from the company on this matter.
