At least 22 people were killed as Goa Express moving towards Delhi rammed into the stationary Mewar Express near Mathura on Wednesday morning.
The Goa Express hit the Mewar Express from behind at around 04:45 hours IST, The engine of the Goa Express climbed on the last bogey of the Mewar Express, which was stationary on the same track.
Most passengers who were trapped in the damaged coach have been rescued. However, the death toll is likely to go up. Railway traffic on the busy Delhi-South and Delhi-West has been affected as a result of the accident. Several trains have been diverted and the Intercity Express from Agra to Hazrat Nizamuddin has been cancelled. Further, Taj Expres and the Shatabdi from Delhi are likely to be delayed, the official added.
