Battlestar Galactica Human vs cylon roller coaster

Universal Studios Singapore’s Battlestar Galactica roller coaster to reopen in early 2015.

The Battlestar Galactica: Human v/s Cylon roller coaster will reopen at Universal Studios Singapore (USS) in early 2015, announced Resorts World Sentosa on November 28, 2014. The ride is considered the tallest dueling roller coaster in the world at 139 feet and will feature new two-seater vehicles, designed for an “intimate and personal ride experience,” with each rider getting a window seat.

The sci-fi ride has been one of the major attractions at the USS, however, it had been facing indefinite closure for review since July 21, 2013. Since theme parks require extensive reviewing, which include thousands of testing cycles before certification and opening, the process can stretch for more than a few months.

The caution exercised seems justified considering that the Battlestar Galactica had faced a safety scare shorty after its opening in March 2010, when a seat became detached during routine tests. Following this the ride was closed for nine months.

The roller coaster’s nomenclature and theme has been inspired by American hit TV series Battlestar Galactica, which is a science fiction franchise created by the recently deceased Glen A Larson. The ride features two sets of tracks-an inverted roller coaster track in blue called Cylon, and a traditional seated roller coaster track in red called Human.
