After a long wait, popular messenger service, WhatsApp has introduced its voice calling feature for the Android phones. The new version is available for download on Google’s PlayStore and can also be downloaded directly from the official WhatsApp website.
After the new version is downloaded, the feature has to be activated by someone who has already using the feature by making a call. After the call is received, the application has to be shut down and opened again. Your phone screen will have another icon on the display screen as Calls.
The tab will show the record of the incoming calls and the calls made by the users with actual timings like shown on the regular call log. The new feature has been introduced after a year of beta testing on various users and developers. It was mainly tested in India with a Reddit user Pradnesh07 who reported about the invite that he received and activated it on the phone.
Users who will receive the invite will see an icon ‘Calls’ besides the Chats and Contacts tabs. WhatsApp has been working on the launch of the new feature despite criticisms from the established telecom companies in many countries including India. Some instant messaging services like Viber, Skype and Hike already have the feature but is not so popular yet.
